stand your ground laws

Postby redsox » Thu Apr 05, 2012 12:34 pm

This may be old hat and covered elsewhere but with all the BS around this idiot in sanford were all gonna suffer. What is the general consensus about the future of these laws? We here fought long and hard to get that castle doctrine crap hanged. The law abiding gun owner is once again up against it . Is there no organized campaign to send that excuse for a Govt in Tallahassee a message? Do we have a firm to legislate on our behalf? Im sorry this kid is dead but people die every day over nonsense far more important than this- these are solid laws and must be kept in place- are we back in the 60's with the black panthers? Bill Clinton and al sharpton who would have thought it! Has beens and desperate for the spotlight- Im gonna give up my right s to these losers? Dont think so

Florida Carry's legal team and board members are already lined up to defend the SYG laws in front of the special committee.

It was the media that blew all this out of proportion.

The State Atty and the Sanford police *may* have used the statute in deciding to not charge Mr. Zimmerman at that moment in time but Mr. Zimmerman's lawyers stated plainly that they were not going to invoke that law as it was not necessary as this was a pure case of self-defense.

I hope the SYG law is left unchanged , law abiding people need protection from prosecutors who are anti-gun or just care about their conviction record , common sense left the system long ago. A civil action is almost as bad and we need SYG's protection there too, e-mailing our representatives doesn't seem to have any effect
