Treasure Island, Fl...fwiw

When searching for something completely different I came across the following:

http://www.mytreasureisland.org/police/handbook.htm

Which leads to:

http://www.mytreasureisland.org/police/ordinances.htm

Which contains the following:

Sec. 22-2. Discharge of Firearms.

It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge or fire any pistol, rifle, shotgun, revolver, or any other firearm or air gun or to discharge or shoot any crossbow, slingshot, bow and arrow or boomerang or to utilize any other similar weapon within the city except in defense of person or property.

This section shall not be construed to prohibit the discharge of such weapons in the operation of properly license shooting galleries.
(Code 1985, s16-2)

While they *may* have changed the actual ordinance, they are far behind on modifying their official Web pages, are they not?

The ordinance is still on the books. We have not yet gotten to them as there are over 100 local governments still maintaining ordinances in violation of preemption. Additionally, we are currently in court with Leesburg over a very similar ordinance and will use that as a springboard for other follow-on litigation.

TI doesn't seem to use Municode so I had no idea if the ordinance was still on the books or not.

That's weird.

I was on Muni checking some local county ordinances and while there I used the Muni site index thinking I'd check on TI while there and TI wasn't listed. Must be having a senoir moment...lol.

Thanks for the heads-up.

No problem Arnie, I have senior moments frequently, except they last for days at a time!
