HB 45 & SB 402 Florida Firearms Preemption Enforceability

Postby SeanC » Wed Jan 12, 2011 3:25 pm

The senate version of Florida Firearms Preemption Enforceability bill has just been filed. SB 402 is identical to HB 45 in the house.

Gentlemen,

Now that the holidays are over and we're almost back to a normal routine, perhaps it would be time to come up with a reasonably generic letter or email (or both) that we could all use to send to our elected representatives every other week or so.

Although a lot of us know who to email and write, I would imagine that most people don't, unless they're actively involved in things like this.

So, who here can put together a simple message that won't embarass the organization or ourselves when we send it off via email or postal mail, or both?

I've sent one email in so far and would like to keep this legislation somewhat at the front of the pile, so to speak until it is acted on in July.

Any takers?

Andy,

I can't think of a single reason why we shouldn't do this. I'll see if I can't post one tonight. However, we don't have as much time as you think. July would be the date it would become law, but it could very well be on the Governor's desk by March.

I didnt' realize it could be that quick to be "on the desk"!

Yes, it is definitely time to get moving on the letters and emails!

Actually, this bill will become active as soon as it is signed in to law by the Gov.

Florida Carry Executive Member and pro-2A attorney Patrick Buckley will be testifying before Florida House and Senate Criminal Justice Committees tomorrow about these bills.
The video will be available later in the day.

Both House and Senate Preemption bills passed their respective Criminal Justice committees this morning. There are a few more committees to go but this is a great start!
