Resistance in the panhandle to open carry.

Resistance in the panhandle to open carry.

I live in Port St. Joe (House and Senate district 6) represented by Representative Jimmy Patronis and Senator Bill Montford.
I have repeatedly contacted both of these elected officials offices asking for their support on HB 45 and SB 234.
I keep getting intercepted by their respective legislative assistants.
I am getting the run around about their stance on firearms laws in general and would give me no insight into the position on open carry or the pending bills.
Sen. Montford has emailed me stating that he has read the SB 234 and has questions about it. But he would not commit to co-sponsor it.
Rep. Patronis is silent on the issue and seems to have his legislative assistant Patti Butchikas doing a good job of evading the issues.
I am hoping others in our part of Florida will start to apply pressure on these two legislators and get them behind these two very important bills.

As the Minority (Democratic) Whip, Sen. Montford has an opportunity to show leadership that 2nd Amendment civil rights are not a partisan issue, but fundamental liberties. He was endorsed by the NRA with a B+ rating.

Rep. Patronis (R) was also endorsed by NRA with an A rating and voted for the 2008 "Guns in Cars" law.

If they are rated so high, why do they seem to not be interested in promoting the bills? Have you been able to make any progress with them?
I feel like I am all alone out here in the panhandle. It would be great if you would contact them on behalf of our organization and get an on the record answer from them.
At least I am trying.
